My experience at the Watsonville Law Center

By: Jason K. Redula

The Watsonville Law Center (WLC) provides free legal services to low-income individuals.  Their website is at www.watsonvillelawcenter.org.  They are located at 315 Main Street, Suite 207, Watsonville, CA 95076.

I volunteered for the Workers Compensation Clinic and I was very impressed with their professionalism and their desire to help those in need.  I was inspired because attorneys generally do not have a great deal of time to commit to charitable projects.  However, I understand that many applicant attorneys volunteer to help at the clinic, many of whom are members of the California Applicants' Attorney Assocation (CAAA).

Injured workers were free to make an appointment with their clinic and show them the documents involved in their case and ask any questions about their case.  The paralegals then bring the documents and questions to the attorney or attorneys volunteering for the day and the attorney answers their questions free of charge.

I had a great time doing it and I was able to meet some great people.
